 I started taken the depo injection two months after my daughter died because i feared that i would have another terminally ill child. after seven months i chose to stop taking the injection because i was gaining so much weight. it has now been almost eight months since my last shot and i still have not had a menstrual cycle. i have went to the doctor and he offered to put me on the pill to make my once a month friend appear but i declined because i have chose to have another child. now i have been having these unbelievable cramps that comes and goes and my breast are so sore that i can't take my bra off because to let them down is just asking for trouble, and i know i'm not pregnant because every three or four days i am buying test and they all say negative. so if i'm not with child and the shot is out off my system where is my old friend and why is my breast hurting the way they do. how long does it take for everthing to return to normal? can someone please help me out.

It took me well over a year to get my periods back after being on Depo for about 18 months. I still don't have regular periods.

Look up Depo horror stories. I've been reading them for days. It's not fun stuff.

Depo is well known for irregular periods or loss of periods and fertility even after the shot is stopped. There is no way to know when things will go back to "normal."
