Hi, I have been severely craving ice for the last 6 months. It has gotten to the point where I want it all day long. I would like to know how much damage I am doing to my teeth. I havent been to my dentist but I am due to go, but I keep putting it off. Any answers?

first of all, you need to worry about more than your teeth.......get a blood test.
did you know that craving/chewing ice is a symptom of anemia?

Actually, I just heard that from someone, and I was slightly anemic during pregnancy, but my youngest is 5 now. I have not had any bloodwork to verify anemia since then.
I was also wondering how common this is, as I am driving my husband crazy with the "ice chomping"! I have a Dr. appt next week, so I guess I'll bring it up then.

I love eating ice chips!!! I chipped a whole bunch of molers because of it. And when I got them filled they eventually chipped off. The dentist told me to stop but after a few weeks I started up again. Now I have 2 more appointments to correct it....plus the cracking caused cavities to form. I have had anemia in the past and the above poster was correct in her assesment. I am no longer anemic but still love my ice chips/crushed ice! It is an expensive habit;).
