 I've only been on Ceftin for a few weeks now, and I have say that it really is gross!! It's not even the flavor- which really isn't pleasant. But it's too big, and it keep getting stuck in my throat. What is most irritating? How I try to swallow it, and it gets turned sideways- and I end up either gagging/violently coughing it back up, or it takes several attempts (chugging water like a maniac) to get it down. My throat burns afterwards. It's just awful!! Coating it seems pointless since it breaks down pretty quickly. It's like swallowing a piece of chalk.

Anybody else have this happen? How did you keep this from happening?! :(

Hi datgrlstef. When I had to take potassium pills, they were huge and chalky too. I know it is gross.

I suggest calling your pharmacist to see if there is anything you can do. Maybe you can get a smaller dose in a smaller pill and take more or maybe they can put it in a capsule somehow.

I hope you can find a solution soon.

OH MY GOSH. I HATED taking this HATED IT. I would choke sometimes, it would turn around in my throat and I was MISERABLE. you can't cut them in half so it sucks!!!!

I would put it at the very very back of my mouth and take a MASSIVE gulp of water and try and relax my mouth. it tastes nasty and was horrible

i see my LLMD on Monday so i'm hoping he will say 'no benefit to ceftin/biaxin for you so we'll change you'

UGH SORRY IT REALLY STINKS!!!!

You could try Cefzil, which is a close relative drug. I used it for 8 months, along with Tindamax, which seems to have effected a cure.
