I saw Dr. Syrop - once, just for an opinion. I liked him but he just gave me his opinion, I didn't end up using him for treatment because I felt I could get it elsewhere.

Based on what I read about Dr. Gelb I did not opt to see him.

I don't know where you live - but I know of a very good TMJ specialist in Ridgewood NJ. Not sure if I am able to recommend here but I listed his name under the good doctors thread.
