I think I may have a sort of metabolic disorder due to chronic hyperventilation syndrome, probably brought on by Klonopin withdrawal. It's been going on 2+ years now, and I'm at my wits' end. Regular doctors insist there's nothing wrong with me other than edema, but I found a page on chronic hyperventilation syndrome, and yes, that's me to a T. Part of it will be controlling my breathing (not breathing through the chest all the time, which I had been doing), but I'm thinking some of my mineral stores such as phosphorous may be off due to prolonged respiratory alkalosis. What type of doctor would I go to with this? I'm half inclined to just go to the emergency room though obviously it's not life threatening because I just don't know what type of doctor would treat this.

Possibly an endocrinologist.
Don't go to the ER. Those doctors are great if your life is in immediate danger, or your bones are broken, but something difficult to figure out and non-urgent, you're not likely to get much help there.
The best place to start is often with a general practitioner or internist.
