To give a bit of history, I was not going to dentists regularly for check ups or cleanings, and I was never the best about brushing my teeth or flossing.
I finally went to a dentist last year, who did xrays and cleaned my teeth. I had no cavities, but he did say I had gingivitis. My gums bled a lot as you can imagine during the cleaning.
Since then, I have changed and brush daily (twice a day). I developed burning mouth last fall (I now suspect it was Candida, as I changed my diet and tried the Candida cleanse and the burning went away by 90%). I still have 1 area in the right side, the inside of the cheek back by my molars, as well as my top row of teeth, hurts quite a bit and burns.
I have been flossing regularly after the majority of the burning subsided. My gums did not bleed at all when I went back to flossing, however they do smell a bit yucky when I floss (over time this is decreasing). The burning in the right side continues.
I had large amounts of steroids from Feb. to March, as I was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in March.
I went to my GP about the burning, who didn't think I needed Nystatin (I was thinking that perhaps the yeast problem was not completely gone), and didn't think any further attention was necessary in the affected area.
My right ear has hurt for a long time (my neuro thinks possibly due to MS), an ENT found nothing with the ear, and I would guess the burning is referred pain from the ear on the same side, however I noticed that while eating strawberries, the gums around my top row of teeth on the right side stung a bit.
I know it's complicated, but I'm not getting answers or any progress :( I'm trying to find someone who's experienced something similar, or may have an idea of what is going on.
