I'd like to first say I am soo glad that I found this board.:) I finally don't feel alone.
I have been hurting now for over a year with a Dr that seemed not to believe my pain, always shrugging me off and telling me to take advil. By chance I went by the Dr's morning clinic with a sore throat and I mentioned my other problems to a nurse practitioner. She sent me to a rheumatologist. After ruling out lupus and rhumatoid arthritis he believes I have fibromyagia. He had me try Lyrica for 3 months. It's not working, plus it screwed up my eyesight. I am still in constant naggin pain and spasms:(
I have been on Trazadone since 1995 for Insomnia and Celexa for 2 years for depression. Nothing for pain. I see the rheumatologist again Monday and pray he gives me something for the pain. I can't even cry anymore about it, I've ran out of tears.:( At night I wake up every 2 hrs no relief anywhere. In the morning I can't seem to dress myself. At the end of the day I can't walk. The people I work with think I'm lazy and my family doesn't understand how bad I really feel.
As I said I am glad I found this board. Sorry for venting for soo long

I would like to welcome you, your in the right place now and perhaps we can help you, as you read the threads, you will see different types of medications that us fibro folks take. Like i always say we are all different but all alike in some ways. Different things work for different people, Lycra is new and works good for some and terrible for others. Lots of folks are on muscle relaxers, something for nerve pain, an anti-anxiety med, something to sleep and an anti-depressant. Oh and if the pain is causing your blood pressure to go high as it does to me than then a blood pressure pill. It sounds like you need a little more to give you that boost to get you going. I always tell people to do their homework, you have to be your own advocate. After all the doctors do not feel what we feel or do not go through what we go through. As for the other folks that we work with or even our family members. So hang in there for now, i just wrote to another girl who is new on the board and i told her a wee bit of what i went through, so if you see that thread, take a peek, its getting late, time to watch the news and go beddie bye. Hope you get to feeling better soon enough, sending someone to sit with you for now

I would also like to welcome you to this board. I cannot express how much everybody has helped me with medications, helping me not feel alone, and so much more. I have made new friends, and somedays this is the only communication I have with the adult world as my boys are 2 and 4 and I stay at home.

We can help you, and ask away! It sounds like you need something for pain, and maybe a muscle relaxer. Are you on anything for muscle spasms? Is fibro the only dianosis you have? A lot of us here have other issues, like I have myofascial pain syndrome, tmj, and migraines too add to fibro.

I hope to chat with you again. Good luck and we are all here for you!

welcome diva. may you always find the support and understanding we share here. i am one of the oldies on this site. been here so long i am gathering dust. giggle.
there are many options for treatment. i find physical therapy helps me the most. i won't take alot of drugs, like lyrica. the bad outweighs the good for me.
forget what others think of you. it is pointless to worry. it is their problem anyway, not yours. it is what you think of yourself that counts. if you have done the best you can then you be content with that and if need be get a note from your doc explaining what you have and how it can affect your ability to be 100%.
peace,
bluelakelady
compassion is all we can ask of others. understand they cannot. one must have something to really understand it. make sense?

Thanks everone:)
fibro is the only thing my dr thinks I have so far. I have had migraines since the early 90's but have had them under control for a while now. I do have TMJ, I've had that for 4 years. my jaw has spasms once in a while I had some flexeral left over and have been taking that for my back and shoulders.I hope to know more Monday when I see my rhemutologist
