I was told this morning that I have HSV-1 genitally. I have been in a manogamus relationship for 6 and a half years, and havn't been with anyone else in probably 7. My fiancee was a virgin when we got together, and hasn't been with anyone else. I asked him about having cold sores, but he says he's never had one. Now, my doctor said there is a chance of contracting herpes though toilet seats and such. From what I have read, people say that is not possible. But, I can't see how else I would have gotten this. Any help?

My doctor said the same thing because of the location of the location of the outbreaks. I get mine right in the middle of my butt checks where I would sit on the toilet. Is this really possible????????????

You can be a virgin and have oral herpes. Your husband could have had the virus all along and never have outbreaks. Many people have oral HVS1 and don't know it. I wouldn't think about it too much.

The exact location of the outbreak is not an indication of where the virus entered your body. Only generally, that is if you breakout below your waist, you got it genitally and if anywhere around your mouth, you got it orally.

I'm just worried he's going to think I was fooling around on him or something. His mom and brother both get cold sores all the time, so I think it would probably easy for him to contract it, what with sharing glasses and things. I think once I explain that you can have it without necesarrily showing symptoms, it might bring things in to perspective. He hasn't accused me of that, and even said he didn't think I was with anyone else, but I still worry.:(
