I am having terrible pain across my upper torso and down both arms. I haven't been formally diagnosed after 4 mos. of pain but now they think it may be nerve pain caused by shingles -I had shingles about 5-6 years ago with a rash going around my belly, but this time I don't have a rash. They have done a CSpine MRI, a right shoulder MRI, and plan to do a Thoracic MRI..they have done achest xray, and now labwork to see if shingles virus is active in my body. My PCP said to prepare myself to see a neurologist...She said there are several pain medications I can take but no clear cut treatment to get rid of it because it lives in the nerve endings so it can come back @ any time for longer period of time...I am only 58...I have never been in this much pain,,burning,pulling, tearing, pin pricking sensations...only thing that helps is ice packs around my whole upper body. I take vicadin @ nite to get to sleep...Can someone enlighten me on this cause I cannot find much info

That sounds miserable, I'm sorry you are having this pain.

This might seem like some "woo-woo" advice, but for myself, when nothing else helps, I'm open to alternative remedies. At least taking a look-see.

The other night I googled "Edgar Casey" to see if he had any remedies for ghsv. Unfortunately there wasn't any. However he did have remedies for herpes zoster. I just thought you might find that of interest.

Dr. Casey has been gone a long time but his work is still very much alive. Many people critisized his rather out-there (relative to western medicine) ideas.

It couldn't hurt to check.

i get shingles on my face only on the left side though. they only occur in my eyebrow and on my eyelid. previous doctors thought they were something totally different and then i went to an urgent care center where they diagnosed me with shingles. i still get them from time to time especially when i get super stressed, but they gave me some zovirax antibiotic and my shingles clear up every time. i have only heard of people around the age of 50 or so getting shingles..... until i got them.

They have done a blood test to see if the shingles virus is present in my body...it takes a week to get results so should have results @ end of this week approx. I had shingles 5 years ago around my belly(rash) but this time there is only pain and no rash and I have had pain for 4 mos.

i hope they find it and can treat it the way it is supposed to be treated.
