son1981 04-11-2008, 12:59 PM does anyone know if its true? Sponsor NancyH 05-02-2008, 02:29 AM Not any faster than anything else like smoking, drinking, too much caffeine or sleep deprivation! Too much of anything isn't good! Heck I use plain ole sugar crystals on a damp cotton ball as a skin exfoliate twice a week and it actually hydrates my skin better than any cream I could buy on the market! That's a positive for sugar! fatoom90 05-03-2008, 10:39 AM sugar definitely weakens our immune system, any weakness in our defense mechanisms exhausts our bodies & brings out diseases, & the exhausted sick body ages faster. That's about sugar & aging in general terms. don'tlikecold 05-07-2008, 11:09 AM There is so much talk about sugar these days. It causes so many problems and aggravates so many conditions. Not only diabetes but it is linked to nerve damage and Fibro as well. Most of the studies are focused on corn syrup which is in so many products. You'll now see a slew of products advertising they don't use corn syrup. I was just reading an old magazine I have from 1904 and all of the women had such gorgeous skin. My daughter and I were talking about it and said it must have had to do with less pollution, the environment, etc, but also the diet back then. No convenience foods and no corn syrup. The skincare articles said the only thing you needed was cold cream and a lava stone to remove wrinkles and lines. I definitely believe that our diets contribute to aging but probably not as much as being in the sun without protection. I'm guilty of not applying sunscreen to my arms before driving on sunny days! NancyH 05-07-2008, 06:49 PM This country spends too much of our time telling us what is good or bad for us! We are living to 80+ compared to 60+ in the 50's! If we eat right, use less sugar, much less fat and exercised regularly we wouldn't need the gov hoots telling us how to do it. Lots of money spent on just telling us, let alone developing new diseases from Drug Companies so they can sell us a pill to manage it all on their profit lines! Our Grandmas grew their own vegs and worked a heck of a lot harder than any do now, with all the technology to make us even lazier than we are. Sugar is not the root of all evil, it's laziness on the part of the American people, who are the heaviest people in any country! I'm not anti-government just think it's about time we as supposedly intelligent people use common sense to figure out how to eat right without someone telling us to. How often has a so called new research pointed us to NOT eat eggs let's say and then a couple years down the road it's ok to eat eggs several times a week. It happens much of the time and then everyone stops eating eggs and then "new" research suddenly proves that it's ok to eat eggs in moderation, the same people who stopped eating eggs because of the research will now start to eat eggs. My Grandmother lived to be 94 and she always told us most things in moderation and I'm a believer in that! So Lately Sugar is in the "bad light" 5yrs down the road "new light" that sugar is good for you, same ole same ole! |
