I had my gall bladder removed 1 month ago today. I can eat anything now, but my problem is severe constipation and bloating. I look about 5-6 months pregnant from the side view. I have read many posts about post surgery diarrea, but has anyone heard of this? I have taken laxatives, stool softeners, prune juice , chewable fiber tablets on a daily basis. I had a bm today, first one since last Sat. It is the bloating that is worrying me. I have gained probably 11-12 lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks. I cant eat a lot at a time because I feel like I am going to explode. Any comments or suggestions?

I had my gb out 5 months ago and have never suffered from diarrhea. However, prior to surgery and still I only have a bm 2-3x a week. The first few months after surgery I was constipated to where it hurt all the time. I found that taking the benefiber and miralax was making it worse. Once I went off of it I got better. I was on it because the gastro told me to and since I never had a regular BM before he was trying to get me too... but I was bloating and constipating MORE with that stuff. Laxatives never work for me either. I did try some citrus nitrate and that cleaned me out but it was painful and violent. I guess it depends on how desperate you are. I did not gain weight though, I've lost 40lbs.

I would try natural fiber found in food, lots of water and a healthy diet. Seeing your doctor is a good idea too!

had mine taken out march 27 08 i am constipated also doesnt help my hemroids never had diarrea either surgeon told me to take fiber lax. also no help yet was bloated first week not as much now hope we all get better keep in touch
