Hi my wife has been on clozapine now for 9 months we feel there has been little change but the consultant still wanys to persist in its use has anyone had any good results with this even after this amount of time . She also sleeps 17 hours a day and often seens sedated.

Anxiety meds are meant for the most part for crisis or to avoid crisis. Over time like any other med they tend to become less effective and need to be increased or changed. If your wife is sleeping too much I would guess something else is at play such as depression or anemia or a host of others that should be ruled out.

I have been taking clozaril for a year now and it does cause severe sedation. My doctors have given me a stimulant (Adderall) and that really helps with the fatigue. Otherwise I was sleeping 18-20 hours a day. Good luck
