Hi. I was wondering if anyone with fibromyalgia has a feeling of tightness and tingling on their face.
Like a stretched out feeling around the center of the face.

Thanks!

Yes, I get this, when my jaw pain is acting up. I also have myofacial pain as well in that area and that causes that pain as well. I over did it a bit today and my face felt exactly like that this evening and even a bit now.

Guadet, It's not pain, the center of my face (around nose) feels like it's stretched out. Like a tight feeling.

Sorry...I get that feeling as well. Between the fibro fog and the Lyrica I have been taking I find I haven't been making much sense lately.

Does it almost feel like you are in a wind tunnel and your face is being pulled back, but not your whole face...so it is tight? I actually had that feeling today and it is quite common in some fibromites. I use moist hot packs and they typically work, but since I have been doing PT on my face/jaw, and neck once a week, I don't get that feeling as often.

For a hot pack, I have a homemade one that is just a piece of fleece that is sewn together and there are corn kernels in it. I pop it in the microwave for a little over a minute and then put it on my jaw (side of the face) for 10-15 minutes on each side.

Hope that may help some.

Hi 3 Love!
What you are experiencing is the muscles tightening due to a flare in your face. The tightening interferes with the nerves to a certain degree, which causes the tingling. Have you had any trouble with your eyelids twitching with spasms?

Blessings,

Kirstee you brought back a memory when you mentioned the eyelids twitching. Years and Years ago, my eyelids use to twitch and sometimes right under my eye. Anyway I was in sales then and sometimes my eyelid would not stop twitching. I would put my finger on the spot while I was talking just to get it under control. Sometimes I could see the client looking at my eyelid instead of concentrating on my sales pitch. That seems so funny now but when it was happening, I was so annoyed and embarrassed. Thank goodness I think that twitch wore itself out....giggle!

I've been having a lot of muscle tightness in my neck, shoulders, face, and jaw. It's been driving me crazy and very painful. I got a trigger point massage last week and she worked on all of these areas including my face and I feel a lot better.

This face tightness you are speaking of... weird. I have felt something like this for years, but never gave it any thought. It really didn't click until the description on the wind tunnel effects. Guess I'm in there with you guys on this odd symptom too. lol.... at least we are doing it among friends. ;)

I am glad this came up. I deal with this everyday and it is a bad tingling that has morfed into a sensation of extreme cold on my skin. I get it mostly in the evening after a days work. I sit in front of a computer looking at spreadsheets all day so you can image the fatigue in my eyes which just adds to the discomfort. I think the tension in my neck and shoulders triggering my facial nerves to go crazy and nothing short of sleep makes it go away. I cannot watch TV in the evening because my eyes at so sensitive to light. I end up in my bedroom. Fortunately, most of the time I still can read and I love to so alls not lost.
