Hey guys,
My DD has started to refuse her bottles.:( I am totally sad, but that is for another thread. Anyway, she is NOT good with a sippy, and takes very little fluids from her cup. She is drinking about 2-3 oz three times a day, for the last three days. I am really pushing fluids, but I am not getting very far, and I am REALLY concerned that she is low on fluids.
Also, did anyone else's baby wean themselves at 11 months? It just seems so early, and Mommy isn't ready yet!
Thanks for your help!

I know what you're saying, I'm starting to get so sad that my little one is growing out of the baby stage - it really DOES happen so fast! Have you tried different types of sippy cups? When we transitioned my daughter to the cup, I always had a cup in front of her and realized she preferred the one with the handles with a faster flow. She would choke in the beginning when drinking from it, but didn't like the slow flow ones because she would get frustrated. Maybe in the meantime while you are transitioning, you can trying giving your little one some ice in the mesh holder so at least she is getting some liquids.
Don't worry, I'm sure she's just going to start using the cup one day and you'll be very relieved...good luck with the transition! :)

is it possible she just doesn't like the flow of the bottle (too fast/slow)? or could she be cutting teeth and the bottle is uncomfortable for her right now (that might explain the not liking the cup either)?
i'd try a different flow nipple first.... if you're already on fast, you could try cutting the nipple to make it a bit faster (i had to do that with my first when she was cutting teeth), or if that doesn't work, go back to a slower nipple and see how she does.
you could also try popsicles to keep her hydrated during this phase.... that would especially help if her teeth are bothering her.
i'm with you! i'm all for babies staying babies as long as they can! :)

Try a Nuby cup. They have silicone tops that are more like bottle nipples and they do not really even have to suck to get the fluid out. They can just chew and it will come out. They come in many different designs and maybe one will work for you.
