Hi everyone,
My body is aching so bad today! I didn't sleep too well last night so I guess that doesn't help. I found out on Friday that my thyroid levels were low (whatever that means) and since then, I've felt like garbage! I went to work today at 5am & so glad to be home now...but I have my 2 year old who is dying to play with her mommy but I can't physically move anymore today! What should I do?? Do you guys think that Fibro, anemia & thyroid problems mixed together could be the cause of my symptoms? Anyone else here have thyroid issues??
Hope you're all having a better day than me!
Take care,
OCD

Well, if you have low thyroid (hypothryroidism) then YES what you are experiencing is an affect of this. Anemia also causes fatigue, weakness, difficulty sleeping, and other symptoms. Did you doctor prescribe synthroid for your thyroid? Even if you did not test severely low thyroid, you still can benefit from taking synthroid. There are many people who feel worse even though they are not severely low than those who are. Obviously you have two conditions that could possibly benefit from medical attention....and I would bet that the fibro would not be as severe once these are treated.

I know there is not much one can do for Fibro but I know of quite a few people who suffer from this disease who take vitamin supplements and antioxidents along with their prescribed pain medication. They have all reported that with the supplementation of vitamins and antioxidents they are able to reduce their prescribed medication.
Just a thought

The vitamin suggestion is good for fibro and general health, but keep in mind that if you're having low thyroid hormones vitamins won't help. That's a condition that is life long (unless related to post pregnancy) and needs hormone replacement. You really need to concentrate on the thyroid and anemia conditions and once those are dealt with then look into what else you can do for your fibro. There is a really good chance that your pain levels and fatigue will greatly improve and you won't need much or anything in the way of prescribed medications for your fibro. Also, people can suffer symptoms of low thyroid long before it ever shows up on lab testing. IF your hormones aren't stabilized no amount of nutritional supplementation will help the rest of your ailments.

I agree with Bleigh. I have thyroid probs but l had graves disease and had the gland removed last July. Believe me the body pains/exhaustion experienced by someone with thyroid probs are unreal! Whast happening about your thyroid? Are you starting replacement? Good luck x

I'm just going to reinforce what everyone else has said about the thyroid. If you don't get that under control, you won't be able to get anything under control. Thyroid effects so many other parts of the body. Put this in the back of your head, if synthroid doesn't work maybe a T3 med called cytomel would help you more. That's what help me to turn the corner.

I know this is not necessarily in reference to the original post, but just wanted to offer a bit of interesting info on Cytomel. It has been used in fibro patients at a pretty high mg also supposed to help with depression. Keep in mind these patients are not necessarily thyroid patients.

I tried Cytomel almost two years ago. My mom swears I'm in the early stages of hypo that's not detected by blood tests. She is a nurse with lots of research behind her...and I'm going through similar things she went through at my age. Also, my youngest sister has Hashimoto's among many other women in my family. So, with this history the doc prescribed the Cytomel at a very low dose. ANYWAY, I was on it for a couple of weeks and I could tell a difference in my pain. It helped quite a bit with my leg pain especially. However, it caused my heart to race (not anxiety related) and I had to stop it. This was one medicine I was sad not to be able to take...at least I can't for now.

Hope you don't mind my little side track, but I remembered the Cytomel and thought some of you might like to look into it.
