you started them on 3 meals a day? My 7 month old gets cereal and a fruit or veggie in the morning, then bottles of BM throughout the day then cereal and a fruit or veggie for dinner. I can never tell if he is full or still hungary when we are done with the meals. He always starts to squirm and cry half way through the meals, so is he full or wanting more? I give him little spoonfuls slowly, hubby gives him giant spoonfuls too quickly, I feel. How do you tell when they're full?

The pediatrician told us that by nine months, he should be getting three meals per day. I just don't know when to start this and how.

Hi there,

My DD is 9 months and she's eating 3 meals a day with a snack after her nap in the afternoons.

When she was about 7 months or so we started like you did with a breakfast meal, then adding a breakfast and a dinner meal, and then by 8 months she was on a breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal most days (some days she would refuse if she wasn't hungry enough).

It's so nice that she's on a 3 meal a day schedule because she eats when we eat, so I'm not shoveling in my dinner...we're all sitting at the table together.

Good luck!

I am going through the same thing. My DD is 8 months old. She goes to day care 3 days per week and my daycare only feeds her cereal w/fruit or veggie for breakfast and then bottles of bm the rest of the day. I always give her dinner at night (which is 1/2 a jar of veggies and cereal). However, when I have her home w/me for the day, I do 3 meals. I feel that she likes 3 meals (and it gives us something to do)! However, my daycare is always talking about how their milk is so important. I think I will tell my daycare that I would like her to start feeding her lunch as well.

Anyone have any thoughts about solids? I tried little bits on bananas for my dd to feed herself and she did a little choke. I freaked out and haven't let her feed herself since. ;)
