I can not take all of this pollen!! I live in an area where it is like a light dusting of snow. CArs are making tracks in it in the parking lots. Just seeing that in a parking lot is enough to make me turn around and go home and not even get out of the car. IS anyone else this miserable? I have the meds, but nothing helps. I have resorted to driving 45 minutes to an indoor playground for my little boys. Man oh man.

Here in GA the pollen can drive one crazy. BUT, it's not the pollen you see that is causing you're allergies. The yellowish pollen that is covering everything is pine tree pollen and it's too large to cause any allergic reaction. However, other tree pollens that are in the air can cause major allergies. I checked today and for our area Oak, Sweetgum, and your location may still have some Birch in the air. I would assume that the pine tree pollen may cause some irritation in the eyes especially if you wear contacts....
I feel your pain...counting the days till I can open up the windows and breath some fresh air without inhaling my allergy meds every five minutes.

I too live in GA and my allergies have been real bad. i take zyrtec year round which is awesome bc now you can get it OTC which makes life easier but i feel like it's not working or something. i cant shake my allergies, a clogged, foggy feeling. i also have nasal congestion. my anxiety skyrockets for some reason when my allergies are acting up so its been through the roof this week. last week the pollen count was somwhere around 27,000 and today it's down to 151 but they say that that's still really bad. ug when is this going to end or when are they going to develope a BETTER allergy medication?!?!?

YES!!! I'm in NJ and the tree pollen is really high. I also take allergy meds, sprays and eye drops and I'm still miserable!! I just started shots about a month ago, so I'm hoping to get some relief eventually when they kick in. I'm glad to know I'm not alone, I hope we all feel better soon. I'm praying for some rain!

eloise, you can try to take either a prescription nasal spray with your Zyrtec or an over the counter like Nasal-Crom. I have used Rhinocort in the past and it helped get me through the days that the allergies were cutting through the Zyrtec. For now, I just use the Nasal-Crom with the Zyrtec and it seems to be working just fine.
There is a new prescription Zyrtec either on the market now or will be out soon. My friend is a pharmaceutical sales rep for Zyrtec and told me they've got a better version replacing the one that's OTC now.

I definitely feel your pain! My allergies (everything but dust and mold...) really makes my asthma flare up which sucks. I take Singulair 10mg every day and use Veramyst nasal spray whenever I remember. I was okay until last week when the pollen readings in my area were 11+ (with 12 being the highest) and it felt like the Singulair was doing NOTHING!
I ended up using bioAllers Tree Pollen Relief drops which is a homeopathic remedy. Basically you just put drops of the liquid under your tongue several times a day and it works much the same as immunotherapy shots - introduces trace amounts of the allergen into your system so you can build up a tolerance. It might not work for everybody, but it's definitely helped me a lot - I've felt totally clear since taking it. I originally started using the Pet Dander drops they have when I first got cats and it helped enormously so I thought I'd give the Tree Pollen one a try. This is by no way an endorsement, just a suggestion - allergies can make you desperate for anything that may help sometimes!! :)

I too am in a pollen-covered area (The South) BUT I am like this year round however Spring and Winter are actually the worse months for me though we don't really get much of a winter here however when the air gets dry I seem to always end up with some form of Bronchitis or Pneumonia and I never quite feel better all year. Is there any good place to live, besides living in a plastic bubble?? :D
