I have a little bit of hair that I want o get removed, but it is a very sensitive subject for me. I have been married o my husband 5 years and known him for 10, but we have never even discussed it. It embarrasses me so much. I want to know if I can get this done without having to grow it out between times or without having nasty stubble. Please help.

I don't know where your hair is, but the only thing you can't do after having laser hair removal is remove the hair from the root (plucking, waxing, threading). You can shave it, use a little electric "razor" (like Finishing Touch) to get rid of hair. If it really bothers you that much, then getting it removed will definitely be worth it. Good luck

Laser hair removal (and waxing) does require some growth for it to work. If you don't want any hair growth, you may want to consider an epilator. They aren't the most comfortable and it feels similar to waxing, only hairs are plucked more slowly and not so quickly so you have to deal with it longer. It's worth it to me and the more you use it, the less it hurts. I bought one made by Braun. You don't need to let the hair grow back as long as waxing... epilators can pick up very short barely growing in hairs, I believe half a milimeter or something tiny like that! It lasts longer than shaving as well.

Thanks for the epilator suggestion. I pluck my leg hair in between shaving as I'd really like the effect of waxing, but just can't stand for the hair to get that long. It will be a long time before laser hair removal will be an option so I'm may just go out an buy myself one of those epilators. Sure would be the length of time it takes to pluck with tweezers....

Can I go online and get one of these things? Do I need any special creams or lotions? Will I have to deal with any types of skin irritation or burns? Anybody know the best brands?

Laser hair removal is great, I have been suffering for so long with embarrassing hair, so sick of all the plucking and shaving and waxing and rashes from aforementioned. I am on my second treatment and my stomach line and bikini line is so much lighter, its unbelievable, I wish i wasnt to embarrassed to sort it out before. Facial hair takes more sessions, but from my experience, it so worth it getting it lasered!

When you have laser hair removal done, you do not need to have hair growth in between treatments. You can shave in between treatments to keep yourself smooth but you don't need to grow out your hair (like you need to for waxing). Laser is a great and lasting way to get rid of unwanted hair. Your husband doesn't even need to know that you are having the treatment done if it makes you uncomfertable. But I think that you need to be more accepting of yourself. You're husband knows you for 10 years. He won't care that you have some extra hairs. :) Be kinder to yourself!

With an epilator, you don't need it to grow much at all. I just feel a little bit of stubble and it works on that. My epilator was about $70 and was the Braun brand, so I'm not sure about cheaper ones and if they work as well. The first time using it, I did have some irritation and had some redness, but it went away after 1 day. I just wore pants that day. Now it hasn't been happening anymore. I shave as well, but using the epilator makes my legs stay smoother for longer. Shaving is just much quicker. I don't use any creams or anything... just the epilator itself and you use it on dry, clean skin.

Ladylynn90, have you tried laser hair removal? If so, how was your experience? I was told by a friend who got her bikini line done that she had to let hers grow in between (just a tiny bit). I know if you have blonde hair, it doesn't work as well as someone with darker, coarse hair. I was given a brochure on the process and it said that the reason for letting it grow in before another treatment was because the hairs that are out will get zapped, but you have to keep going back because some of the hairs have not grown in yet and they get zapped after they grow and appear. I know there are different kinds of lasers that can be used, so maybe that is why this one was different! I know there is electrolysis as well as an option.

I just bought the Braun Silk-epil last week and LOVE it. I'm so glad it was suggested here. I've had to pluck my inner calves and ankles because I would get a rash when the hair would grow back. Took hours of plucking. Now the epilator does it so quickly. Also has done wonders for the leg hair on my hamstring area....don't know why it's like man hair and totally yuck. You will have to use the epilator regularly at first as the hair grows at different rates. It does not feel great when you do the first time as there is a lot of hair to pluck, but it's much easier on later treatments. Underarm hair removal is PAINFUL, but again it seems easier once you start to just do maintenance. If you have facial hair I don't know if you can use this model to remove. Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion!!
