Hi,
I am 46 and I started the first symptoms after I turned 40. Now the symptoms are getting worse. I was worrying a lot because I thought I had something bad. I started with dry skin really bad. I had to put a lot of creams then my hair started falling. I had the shakes too. I feel like electricity going through the vains and muscles. Also, I had pain in my joints and now pain on my left hip and waist. I went to the doctor. They did x-ray and nothing. Also, I checked my heart and nothing. Everything is normal. I get a lot of panic attacks. My doctor wanted me to take Cymbalta but I don't like to take medication. I want to take natural things. I just got some CD's to relax more. I want to start exercising. I don't know what to eat that will help me with this. I am glad that I am not alone. Also, I don't know but I got another symptom. It is when I breath I smell like something is burning. It comes and goes. I think this is when I get panic attacks. Is this symptom normal? I checked my lungs too and they are normal.

Sounds like you have been smart in getting checked and that should calm some of your fears. But I do understand...things are so strange sometimes and it is scary. Have you had the internal trembling feeling and the muscle twitching etc?

All of this can be very unnerving because it seems like symptoms of something - but after tests and checkups - the doctors find nothing.
I just went through a huge scare with my heart. All checked out fine. But I must be having some kind of hormonal shift right now because my joints and hip have been very achy lately in addition to the heart palpitations.
I think relaxation and exercise would be very beneficial. I intend to try yoga or pilates to relax and/or strengthen my muscles. I wish I could afford a massage twice a week! It wouldn't even be a luxury - it would be therapeutic!
As far as diet goes, I'm not sure. I haven't tried anything. But I would imagine any diet that's healthier with fruits, veggies, whole grains and less refined/salty/high fat food would help.
I hope you find some relief soon. But try not to be too worried since you've been good about following up with the doctor and you are otherwise healthy and well. It's just these wicked hormones at work.
