Hello all, I have finally, with a lot of thought, decided that I don't want any more children (for now at least). I saw my doctor today (Obgyn, not endo) and I am going to go have it (the Mirena) put in next week. I just wanted to ask any of the women out there if they have had it/used it, if they had any problems with Addison's (since obgyn dr.'s don't really know much about our illness, I thought i would post here). Maybe I might call my Endo just to make sure that it is safe.;)
Thank you for all of you input! Kc

Hi KC,
I used Mirena IUD for 4 years, had it removed about 2 years ago to get pregnant, and went back on it again 5 months after baby. Loved it then, love it now, no problems at all Addison's or otherwise. The time-released progestrone component of the Mirena is not systemic, only local, so there is little chance of weird hormone side effects. And if you use it and decide to have it removed for another pregnancy, your fertility should return relatively quickly compared to other forms of hormonal birth control.
