View Full Version : Stopping the Pill

Is it necessary to see your doctor if you want to stop the pill? I really don't remember if my doc said anything about it. To me, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with me stopping it myself. However, there are these warning labels on the prescription and on commercials telling you to "talk with your doctor" if you chose to go off the pill.

Anything I should know about this? Are there any side effects from stopping the pill, like how your period adjusts after you stop?

You don't need to consult your Dr about stopping the pill unless you're on it for a medical reason. If you do stop it, you should finish the pack that you're taking so you don't screw up your hormones. It will take a little while for your body to adjust, your next period or two might be late and you might experience some spotting. The only other side effect I had was little waves of nausea occasionally.
