If this is day 1 of my period and I havent taken my 1st pill yet, should I? It is 3pm here, so if I wanted to take them in the am is it too late to start taking it??

If you missed today, you should start your first pill on Sunday. Then you can start it whatever time you want to take it and you'll be fine.

It's better to start on the Sunday after the start of your period anyway, because it's easier to keep track of which pill to take on whatever day.

There are two days to start the pill, but as Kszan said, you missed the first day so being a "Sunday starter" will be better for you so you don't have to wait until the next cycle. I chose to start my pill on the first day of my period because with Yasmin, the pill I take, it offered protection immediately and Sunday starters have to wait a week for the pill to work as protection.

You should read the information that comes with your pill. I understand that all pills are a little different and some take 3 weeks or so for the pill to be a reliable birth control method.
