Hi all, just trying to see if anyone has some info on this situation. I have not had a menstrual cycle since May 2007, and per my GYN, the hormone levels were just about right for the setting of menopause. With great glee I have been period free since then. I have the occassional hot flashes, moodiness, and other typical symptoms. I felt for sure I was home free!! So much so, I was bragging to my female workmates and friends about the freedom this past week!!

Lo and behold, today while using the restroom, I thought I was gonna die!!! After dropping my panties, there it was.... a blood spot!!! Then it hit me...I had been feeling discomfort this morning...cramps. The last couple of days my breasts have been tender, I've been fatigued, grouchy...but I didn't consider it could be my usual pre-period symptoms. NO WAY!!

I'm just shy of reaching the ONE YEAR mark!!! OH MAN!!!

Of course I will make sure to see my GYN asap, but anyone care to give an opinion, explanation or share an experience of similiar situation??:(:dizzy:

Thanks in advance!!;)

ptzgrl,

Don't panic -- seeing your doctor is always a good idea, but what you are describing sounds pretty normal for peri. This time of peri is marked by fluctuating hormones, and symptoms that come and go, and periods that come and go. Even though your hormones checked out as being in the "official" menopause range, it doesn't mean that your body is finally stabilized and ready to sail into the next phase of your life. Lots of women here report having another period or two after one year or two years of being period-free.

Let us know what the doctor says, but chances are that your surprise period is just one of those "blessed events" that make life (especially during peri!) exciting.

I sure know what you are going through!!!
I stopped bleeding for 8 months and now Im having heavy periods that are close together...I feel like screaming!!! Its been 3 1/2 years since all of this started, Im 50 years old, and it seems there is no end in sight. I also have a giant sized pimple on the end of my nose! ok, I know that minor...but it all just makes me feel crazy!
hang in there.
