Hi, this is my first post. Does anyone know whether fatigue is a symptom of herpes or a "trigger"? In other words, does a person with herpes who experiences frequent bouts of fatigue would still have those bouts even if s/he became permanently asymptomatic? In this case the person invariably experiences fatigue and a sore throat before an outbreak. By the way (and this is another question) the person's outbreak is always limited to a single sore in the same place! The person is my wife. We're both in our early 60's. Thoughts?

Hey Saxawoogie ~
Hello and welcome to the board!
Fatigue can be both a symptom and a trigger. Sometimes when my immune system is weakened, ie: stress, lack of sleep, tiredness, or new illness an outbreak can trigger. Everyone is different and therefore herpes affects everyone differently. I've never heard/read of anyone being "permanently" asymptomatic. I'm thinking a long term illness could make your wife seem that way. Is that possible?
But, since you're saying her outbreak is in the "same spot" everytime - that does sound typical of herpes. Has she ever been tested for herpes? Either by a sore being swabbed or a blood test? Do an online search for Terri Warren and download her handbook, lots of valid information regarding herpes.
Also, your consideration and thoughfulness for your wife is very admirable - can you teach some younger men (not all) to be that way? Just kidding.....
Hoping something here was helpful, -Ornament
