Hello,

I know many people on this forum have shared opinions about this crazy yellowish thing that grows in the eye (it is ridiculous that there is no cure except for surgery!!!).
Mine doesn't really bother me except for aesthetic reasons ... I have one in the right eye and a little, super tiny one growing in the left eye .... I know I have had the first one for like 10 years but only 2 years ago I started realizing how noticeable it is ... I never even used to look at it, I really didn't really care/mind 'till one day this guy, friend of mine saw it and said "cool! what is that? Like terminator?" I never really understood what he meant ... I don't remember if he said terminator or robocop lol ... even then, his comment didn't really bother me ... Another friend of mine saw it a year later and her comment was "cool" as well... Seems like I am surrounded by weirdos who like pings LOL, well, except for my boyfriend who thought it was a scratch in my eye, but never said anything bad about it, he was only worried I had scratched my eye.

Anyway ... I am seriously thinking of surgically remove it (At least the bigger one for now) but considering that I do not have major (physical) problems with it I was wondering it if was worth it ...

I mean, if I stare at the computer for too long my eyes get red and the new veins that grew in my eyes get a little thicker and red (which is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E) ... but for the rest, I don't have pain etc ...

I live in New York and I think it is ridiculous that in such a big, populated city there is no doctor specialized in the autograft procedure for pings.

I heard of the Harvard Associated in LA and 2 docs in Miami (Dr. Gelber of miamieyecenter.com and dr. Gulani), I heard amazing things about: Dr. GULANI ... but I would like to hear more.

None of the people I know recommends me having surgery also because every surgery comes with some risks so if I don't have major physical problems, why risking? They might be right but these pings make me kind of moody.

Now I am asking to whoever HAD the surgery: Did you get dry eye afterwards? Does it stay like that forever? I know the healing process varies, but generally talking seems like people are happy after surgery even though they have red eyes for 6 months or so)
Right now I am not using any drops, will I be addicted to drops after surgery?

Which drops would you suggest for when the pings get a little inflamed? I heard Visine is pretty bad as it had a rebound effect ... so what to use if at the end of the day my eyes are tired and has red veins popping out?

Also, I feel like I get new veins growing in my eyes and that freaks me out, who like veiny eyes?!?! Not me!!! Anything to do to avoid that?

Please share with me your experiences!!

Thanks!!

lol, I am the only one who replies to my own threads, this is fun, lol

Anyway, I contacted Dr. Gulani in Florida and Dr. Tseng also in Florida, they are both specialized in Ping removal.
When I wrote dr. Gulani I got a very short answer from his secretary just mentioning the pricing (4500/each eye) without answering any of my questions/concerns.

When I wrote dr. Tseng, he replied personally shortly answering my questions, the answers were not totally satisfying but good enough considering it was through email. His prices are 4700/eye but they said it can be somehow covered by insurance (???)

I had a better feeling about dr. Tseng and both him and his secretary contacted me right away and have been helpful.

Has anybody had surgery done with him???? I would love to have some feedbacks about people who went to Dr. Gulani and Dr. Tseng.
I hear everybody talking about the Harvard Associates .... but I am sure these doctors are just as good.

If you know anybody in New York please please let me know!!!

Thanks.
