Today I searched for some answers to my problem. I have felt like I was the only person in the world with this problem, until I found this website. Although the messages and discussion was from 2004 to 2006 I don't feel like such a martian. Here is my problem. Can anyone help!

I am a 47 year old woman who constantly smells bad. I have bad breath, I smell like a bowel movement, and my underarms smell. This is everyday! I have tried everything. I brush my teeth three times a day. Take a bath everyday. I go to the bathroom (bowel movement) at least three times a day, and I use men deodorant. I have worked at my present position for going on 10 years. After the second week I was there a co-worker told me that I stink. I have been fighting to keep my job, because my odor has become a problem. I can't hold my head up! This office is full of women and I have become a punching ball because of this problem. Mentally! If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me. I have seen physicians and therapist who have told me it's all in my mind and they don't smell a thing. Well either I am crazy or the rest of the world is playing a really cruel joke on me. Help!

in search for me ending my bad breath as well I saw that Colloidal silver can also be used as a deodorant surprisingly this product can also be used to treat bad breath if its caused by gingivitis. theres different forms of colloidal silver but basically all the same

"Topical Uses

Some have used colloidal silver in a nasal spray mister - to reach the sinuses and nasal passages. Spray bottles have been used for topical use on kitchen and bathroom surfaces, skin, sore throat, eyes, burns, etc. Colloidal silver is painless on cuts, abrasions, in open wounds, in the nostrils for a stuffy nose, and even in a baby's eyes because, unlike some antiseptics, it does not destroy tissue cells. It's excellent as an underarm deodorant, since most underarm odor is caused by bacteria breaking down substances released by the sweat glands!"

hope that works

There is a genetic disorder called Trimethyiaminuria, that causes people to smell badly.
Ask your doctor about it, I think there is a special diet that helps!
Good luck!

I will say this, sometimes you can have a horrible sinus infection that causes Everything in your world to stink because you are smelling thru this bacterial infection. and you don't realize it is just your sinuses that smell. Also, the sinuses put out an odor too. And you think it is your underarms, etc. But unless someone else has smelled under your arms, and agreed it is coming from under your arms, I would first go to an ENT surgeon and get your sinuses x-Rayed and possibly flushed out.

There is a condition that causes a fishy odor but not bm odor. This was profiled on 20-20 last year. It is genetic.
if it is this rare condition---the diet is important and there were meds the woman took.

You can get help.
An endocrinologist would be the place to start. Describe the odor. Go online. Sometimes we can get our own help. Doctors are so busy with the routine stuff they don't have time for anything that requires extra time to investigate.

But if OTHER people have mentioned it, it must be happening and IS NOT all in your mind.

This is a simple question, and maybe you have already thought about this. But what types of foods do you eat? A lot of ethnic cooking can lead to different odors, and they might not be bad smelling to you...but to others they can be. Some ppl the smell just comes thru their pores.

I think that is definitely true of garlic and cumin and curry. they can really penetrate the skin.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem ...

I was wondering, as you've gotten older do you notice that you sweat more or excessive ... and from your age, your not far off if not already "perimenopausal/menopausal" ... women often end up with increased sweating during this period and this can lead to increased body odor .. meds like low dose estrogen therapy have been used(although with the women's initiative data this is all but dead, but glutaraldehyde solution/aluminum chloride/glycopyrrolate/even botox can also help control sweating ... diabetes/anxiety/hyperthyroidism can also lead to excessive sweating

if sweating's not the issue, like what other's said may be true, maybe it's related to your diet(garlic, spicy foods, asparagus etc ...)

genetic wise, there are many diseases that can affect body odor, but they tend to present in infancy, things like PKU/MMA/isovaleric acidemia blah blah blah, but unlikely that you've gone this long without any other symptoms .. most of these disease have other manifestations along with odor, and for the most part urine is often what smell

diabetes can give your breath an odd odor, besides from sweating .. the so called "ketone breath" ... bad kidney disease can also give you bad breath "uremic fetor" from ammonia in your breath

but if you're truly that healthy, and with your age, I would have to guess it's either related to increased sweating and that you're going to have to use one of these hyperhydosis strength anti-persperant ?sp, or that it's from what you eat and maybe from a little contribution from both factors

best of luck

Did you say the doc noticed nothing? Don't you think that is strange if you say others notice a smell as well as yourself? How can he not notice it???

that says go to another doctor ---one who specializes in rare conditions. I guarantee there is an answer and has nothing to do with whether you shower enough.

go online. many people self diagnose themselves when doctors send you on your way without helping. doctors are specialists in illness, and how to cure that, and don't seem to have time for mysteries.

however, on the Science and Health channels, you find many people search for years for a treatment or diagnosis. And it was right in front of the doc's face. But it took a real specialist to find it.
