I'm only 22 years old, but for some reason, I feel like an 80 year old. Over the last year or two I have been very sick with lots of different problems. The biggest problem I have is just general bad health - like an old man. I always have a headache, or a stomach ache, or my joints hurt, I can't sleep, always tired, bad mood, etc. Nothing specific, or really severe, but there's always something wrong. Currently I also have a mystery liver problem - high enzymes or something, docs are still trying to figure that out.
My doctor(s) have mostly brushed these things off as symptoms of my depression - but I'm starting to think it's the other way around - I'm depressed because I'm sick all the time! I'm 22 for crying out loud, I should be healthy as a horse!
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it could be some sort of chemical or other contaminant in my environment/body. I'm wondering, what kind of tests (blood, urine, etc) I might want to have to rule that out? Like maybe testing for lead and other poisons? Is there some kind of list of common chemicals that can be found in the body and be potentially hazardous?

Anything is possible. If you can afford to go to a clinic that specializes in allergy/toxins. Good luck.

I definitely understand what you are going through. I'm a 35 year old female, and have been diagnosised with Lupus since October 1995. Due to the Lupus I have been on chemo for two years, this was too help my kidney function. My kidney were affected by the Lupus, which causes me to be on peritoneal dialysis. I have been thru the depression stage, I think you should talk to your doctor about getting you a referral to a psyhcologist. It has helped me a lot, and yes I was put on medication. I would recommend you to insist on talking to someone. I got so bad with me that I shut down, try to find someone close to you that you can confide in and just talk honestly. Over the years I have had to come to grips with myself, and not let this condition control my life.
Sometimes I just CRY, it is also a great way to CLEASE the soul and it works!
Everytime I get a little down I say to myself:
"I have Lupus, but Lupus DON'T have me!!!"
