On April 14, 2008, I received a letter from Ceridian, my COBRA provider, dated April 7, 2008, advising me that they terminated my health insurance benefits as of February 29, 2008 for lack of timely payment.
I contacted Ceridian to advise them that March's payment was mailed on a timely basis. However, the representative claims Ceridian did not receive March's payment and under no circumstances will there be a reinstatement. They have confirmed timely receipt of my April payment. However, that payment will be returned to me. I also was advised that their is no appeal process since they are not a 'private company'.
Since August 2007 when I lost my job, I have maintained COBRA and have had no problems until receipt of the notice of cancellation.
Is there any suggestions or assistance anyone could provide to get my COBRA reinstated? I did email the compliance department at Ceridian COBRA concerning reinstatement after my phone call led to a dead end. However, they emailed me once indicated quite firmly that they will not reinstate me. I replied asking if they have an appeal process. They claim they will respond in 7 to 15 business days after reviewing my account. I am quite sure I will get the same answer again.
