i have been suffering from panic attacks and anxiety for over a year. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2006 and about a year later after eating diet foods and drinking diet sodas I started getting the anxiety. Tell me what you think.

I have heard that sugar substitues can cause anxiety. Altho I have also been told you would have to ingest a ton of it for that to happen. However, I believe there is some merit to it. Since you are diabetic, if you can try to just not use any sugar or sugar substitute that might help.

You should keep an eye on caffeine with diet soda. Also, artificial sweetners aren't much better than sugar, because people don't know about long term side effects. Try to phase out sugar and artificial stuff. Look into natural substitutes like agave nectar. I have severe panic disorder and insomnia, and artificial sweetners and caffeine aggravate my anxiety.
