Eventhough I had every intention of weaning my daughter between 12-15 months, we actually ended up doing what I would call "Baby lead weaning" starting at 11. She started to take less and less of her bottles, and eventually got to the point where she was literally only drinking about 1/2 an ounce at her bottles (3 times a day), so I decided, why am I trying so hard to push her if she is ready to give them up. So, the next day I just didn't offer her a bottle (instead I gave her sippy cups with whole milk), and she was totally satisfied and hasn't fussed about it at all. That is kinda how things worked for us. Although, it just occured to me that you may be talking about weaning from the breast and not the bottle. In that case, this post probably won't be helpful at all! lucii 04-24-2008, 03:09 AM hi there thanks for the reply :) For anyone who doesnt know what baby led weaning is, its basicly, instead of starting baby on baby rice, and mushing up food, feeding them and adding various different foods to there diet over time, baby led weaning is where you dont do any of that, you offer finger foods stright off, and let baby decide what they want to eat, how much, and if they even like it at all! for example you could try them on toast, broccoli, banana, roast potatoes, bread and butter, pasta, melon. all things easy to put into nice size pieces. lucii xxx peony78 04-25-2008, 07:59 PM Hi. We did this with ds, and I will do it with dd, too. I am exclusively BF'ing, and I giveher solids when she wants them, but we don't realy do baby food of any kind. She'll eat when she wants to, and can.:D |
