I went back to the Orthopedic surgeon and xrays of my ankle were taken and the doctor said the fracture is healed. Now for getting back to weight being on my ankle.

I was so worried that it wouldn't heal because of the osteoporosis. I've eaten just about all the yogurts out of the grocery stores here just trying to get and keep enough calcium in my system.

I'll be glad to get back to walk around, I've really missed my walks.

Hy Taape,

That's great news about your fracture having healed:)

Good job you didn't have that surgery I believed they said you might need!! I have a feeling that if you had been on a ''bisphosphonate'' drug, your fx probably wouldn't have healed in a natural way.

Hope you can get back to walking as soon as possible;)

I'm really pleased for you. The weather should be getting nice right about now, so a good time for all those spring walks you can enjoy :) I hope you still like yogurts :D Great news for you, and well deserved.
Best Regards.

OH Taape that's Fantastic news!!! Now you can get back to walking, but just start out slow and don't overdue it.

I guess we'll never know if the Forteo played a roll in your healing, but I think IMHO it *may* have something to do with it, or you are just a really good healer.

Again, I'll post any info I get on the Forteo info asap. I hope your dxa comes out good, but if not, maybe that would give the Endo a reason to consider starting another course of Forteo. I'm not sure how those who are going over the 24 mos are doing it other than they have Drs that are ammenable to it, and their insurances cover it, so maybe this Dr will let you enter the trial at Davis-fingers crossed:) A patch worn 20 mins a day sounds great!!! I have to admit I'm finally getting a little tired of the daily injections, but it took 22 mos for me to feel that way because I just do it on auto pilot, without thinking about it too much. If I could continue I definitely would. The only problem is my calcium level, and that signals cancer of some kind but no one can find it-hooray-but continous elevated cal is a major problem which they can't figure out so Forteo might be contraindicated, for that reason. Now that my cal level is the highest it's ever been I'm having so horrible side effects, which are scaring me (chest pain, dizziness, constant exhaustion). I have to have a doppler test for my heart because my ekg didn't come back good, it's showing possible minor prior heart attacks, so that's my main concern right now. That's enough about me-no more-this is about your healing only. Good luck.

Are you going to go to PT for your post fx healing? Just wondered...

I'll talk to you before the dxa, but good luck with it in advance.

Thanks for mentioning LLU, I never even thought to check their, but I have now since you brought it up, and they aren't doing any trials with Forteo right now. I'm going to be talking to my gyno this week and he was the only one that asked me if anyone had considered keeping me on Forteo. At the time he took me by surprise since so many Drs have told me No way, but he might just know something I don't about it, and I'm going to ask him why he said that, since it didn't occur to me, at the time, to ask him about *why* he said that. He knows my improved lowest score is still at -2.5, so maybe he thinks that's a reason to stay on Forteo-who knows though I'm just guessing on this, but I'll find out. I'm still waiting to hear from the lady who said her Dr (Endo) claimed that there was going to be a change in the time limit on Forteo released shortly, but I won't know about that until Friday or later.

Continue to improve okay!!!!:)

Hi taape...i'm happy to hear that your ankle is healed and that you are back on both feet. Slow and steady will get you back on the walking trail, enjoy the scenery along the way and think of all the vitamin D you'll absorb while doing it ;). take care...phyllis
