I have not been diagnosed with tmj but...i really think that I have it....I am constantly clenching my teeth and have to concentrate and really think about it to stop...I get headaches and my jaw clicks when moved and in the mornings it usually pops...i have a lot of the other symptoms too but they all come and go...although i dont have jaw pain when chewing....lately have been have ear problems that i belive are related....fullness in the left ear and pain only when i put my finger in and push down...or push in and down on my tragus....if i put my figner in and push down then open and close my mouth that hurts pretty bad...but unless i do these things there is otherwise no pain just the fullness does this sound like ear pain associated with TMJ to anyone???

I had the same issues with my right ear, I don't know how many times before I was diagnosed with TMJ that I had ear infections or swimmer's ear.

yeah it does sound like it - you have some of the other symptoms that go along with it as well.

Hi Kelly. Just wonderfing what your ENT's diagnosis is if you're seeing one? I am seeing an ENT for the same problem. It's been 5 months and he hasn't been able to help me. I'm just realizing that I must be my own advacate, thinking to seeing someone else about possibly TMJ. Just don't know where to start. Medical, Surgeon, Dentist, Dental Surgeon, Chiro.? I'm totally lost. Can anyone guide? thank you.

Check out the inner ear board. My posts are under snh39. I've conversed with many people about the correlation between ear problems and tmj related issues.

My tmj is about the worst it has ever been and I have major ear ringing, fullness in my ear on the side that is the "bad" side of my tmj and oddly positional vertigo with my left ear, the "loose" side of my tmj.

It's been torture, needless to say for many months...the dizziness issues worse than the tmj pain.

ENT's are good to see when it comes to ear related problems. If you do see one, make sure they try a Eustacian Tube test. Then I would follow up with your regular doctor or TMJ specialist. I've found that ENT's are not very good about connecting TMJ with ear issues, or treatment for it. Unless you're having major dizziness issues or hearing loss they really don't help much. If you're having major head pain or blurred vision, that kind of thing than a Neurologist is your best bet.

Yes, I have all the same pain as you. If I place my finger in my right ear (which is the bad one) and push up, I see stars! Fullness in ear, ringing on and off, my own voice echos in the ear and the worst is hearing distortion. Voices sound like their synthesized... like R2D2 type sounds. I don't have any jaw pain though? My dentist says he doesn't see any signs of grinding but that doesn't mean I not having a joint problem? My ENT says I may have fluid in my mastoid bone and it is not related with TMJ but I think it is. I'm been scheduled for an MRI. Ugh.
