So, I've posted that I've been having some problems with bleeding and occasional cramping after intercourse. I'm getting a second opinion because my doctor does not want to do any further investigating. Which I think this deserves. With my history of abnormal paps and ECC's, I'd rather have 2 or even 3 Dr's tell me nothing's wrong. Anyway, here's what they say:

Diagnosis

Part 1: Endocervix, Curettage
Benign endocervical epithelium present
No Ectocervical squamous epithelium present for evaluation

Part 2: Uterine Cervix, 6'oclock, Biopsy
Rare Endocervial cells present

Clinical history
3/26/08 PAP- ASCUS, NEG HPV
11/27/07 COLPO ECC SQ ATYPIA, BENIGN ENDO CX TISSUES
7/27/07 LEEP CX, ANTERIOR BX 1-2 OCLOCK LESION ANTERIOR LIP SQ ATYPIA

GROSS DESCRIPTION

PART 1: SOFT TISSUE: 0.4x0.4x0.1 CM, AGGREGATE, SUMMITTED IN TOTO
PART 2: SOFT TISSUE: 0.1x 0.1 x 0.1 CM, AGREGATE, SUMMITTED IN TOTO

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION

PART 1: SECTIONS SHOW FRAGMENTS OF BENIGN ENDOCERVICAL GLANDULAR EPETHELIUM ADMIXED WITH MUCOID MATERIAL AND OCCASIONAL INFLAMMATORY CELLS. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF DYSPLASIA

PART 2: THIS SPECIMEN IS SCANT AND CONSISTS OF RARE ENDOCERVIAL CELLS. NO ECTOCERVIAL SQUAMOUS EPITHELIUM IS PRESENT FOR EVALUATION.

Hi,

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your biopsy is totally normal, and even your previous ASC-US Pap and LEEP were unremarkable, except for the squamous atypia, which could be the result of irritation, particularly since everything was normal with this report.

If a second opinion will help set your mind at ease, then go for it, but it doesn't seem to be needed.

Hugs,

Lisa

Thanks!

The reason I'm actually going to go to another Dr. is because of the bleeding and occasional cramping after intercourse, which my Dr. doesn't seem to want to investigate.
