It's been about a year since I had developed TMJ and now I'm getting these side headaches always in the same spot on the left side of my head the pain is just above my ear it even radiates into the ear a little bit but it's not an earache and I get them EVERYDAY and aspirin won't help it. Most of the time the pain is dull but sharp at the same time. What can I do about it? it's a nuisance to deal with and am I right in thinking it's the TMJ causing them? I try also to message my temples but it only gives temporary relief....

When I first got dx with TMJ, I was told to take ibuprofin. I took tylenol and it didn't do squat. The only thing that helped was the ibuprofin. I currently take vicodin for some other issues and hadn't had any tmj flare-ups for quite some time; unfortunately, during the past 2 weeks or so my jaw has been getting so bad that I need to push it into place when I wake up and it is very hard to chew. I think I've been grinding my teeth a lot more than normal lately.

Hello. I came back here after awhile to look this same thing up. Mine hurts behind my ear, and a bit above. It goes up a little and out some. I know it is normal with TMJ where I clench, I still get a little nervous after all this time. Usually Excedrine helps me, or when I have time, a heating pad. I hope you feel better!
