Saw my Tdoc today, and it went okay. We're trying to sort out some past trauma issues, and it's just so damn hard to talk about, but she uses really good techniques to keep my grounded in the "here and now" so hopefully we'll make some progress and I can get this insufferable depression under some control. The Lamictal and Seroquel increase seem to be doing okay, I'm pretty irritable, (threw my stapler across the room at work today) but I was expecting it, so just trying to deal with it. The only bad news is my SI habit has come back with a vengence, sooo I'm trying to deal with that to, so if you guys can send me happy thoughts I'd appreciate it. I don't know what I'd do without all of your support. I hope all of you are doing okay and staying safe and as happy as we can be in this hell they call BiPolar.

Yeah my Assistant who is the only other person in my office, and the only person at work who knows about my BP, and is also one of my very best friends, pretty much knows when to duck. She's a great asset to have, if i'm freaking out too much around other people, she takes me back to the office, or if i'm too down and making stupid mistakes she catches them for me. I'm in Finance/Stock Analysis, so most of the time my brain running at 1000 miles per hour is a good thing, but when the depression is really bad, and the insomnia is bad, my brain gets muddled. We've worked together for 9 yrs. now so she really helps me alot. Geez, sorry I know I'm rambling on ....the lamictal really has me ramped up today..

(((KMit)))) I am sending many good thoughts your way and I hope that the lamictal increase helps soon and that the agitation calms down. It has been such a good med for me and I hope it will work well for you too.

Also, I had to LOL about the stapler too. I think we've all been in situations where we feel like that lol. Things go flying all over the place!

Janart, let's see I've been on Topomax, Zoloft, for 2 yrs., was on Depakote with those. Stopped Depakote in November. Started Seroquel @ 100 mg.

I'm now up to 450 mg Seroquel, 75 mg Topomax, 50 mg Zoloft, Ambien CR 12.5mg, Sonata 10mg and the starter pack of Lamictal as of Monday.

My other meds are: Fentanyl patch 50 mcg/48 hrs.
Premarin .09mg/day
Singulair 10mg/day
Ultram 150mg/day
Vitamin D 1000IU/day
Norco 10/325 PRN BT pain
Advil 1200mg/Day

So this is why I have a Psychiatris who does nothing but manage my meds, becasue someone has to keep up with all these, and my brain is not always able to.

Wow thats alot of meds. Isn't topamax for migraines? I have a headache pretty much everyday and have started having full blown migraines now also. I think I read that topamax can cause depression have you heard of that before? Meds helping one thing and causeing something else. It sucks!!!!!!

Jan, yes I take Topomax for Cluster Migraines and as an Anti-Seizure Med, I have a seizure disorder. It also helps with the BP. As to where I used to have a Migraine that would last for up to 13 days (Cluster Migraines) now I hardly ever get one, and it only last for a day, so the Topomax works well. The only 2 problems I have with it is it makes me lose weight, too much weight, so I have lots of docs on my case about my weight, it's also caused Kidney stones, I had to have surgery last year to have one removed, and I just found out last week that I have another one. So you have to weight the pros and cons to make sure the benefits outweigh the risks. For me they do, because I was non-functioning because of the cluster migraines before. Hope you find some relief from your headaches.

well I already have the same two problems. I've had 2 kidney stones already and only weigh 114 pounds. Its really easy for me to lose depending on my stress level. I hate taking the migraine meds that I have because they cause lots of tension in my neck and jaws after the headache is gone. I have had this headache now for about 10 days off and on. You think its gone but then it comes right back and its there when you get up in the morning. Nice chatting with ya (:

Hi,

I am a fellow migraineur, suffered horribly most of my life until just recently, when I was put on Lamictal. Hardly any now, and easily knocked out with Imitrex injections.

This is a miracle for me. I couldn't take the Topomax at all, couldn't eat at all (I cannot afford any weight loss at all) and was dizzy, lost words, but I tolerate the Lamictal very well. Might be worth a try. I've lost weight on it, too, but then, I lost weight when I stopped smoking, too.

Also Depakote others...have you tried these? I know how you feel about putting up with almost any side effects just to have those unbearable, ER-quality migraines dominating you life.

Thinking of you both,

Seaturtle

I've done Depakote, and amitriptalyne but they didn't work as a preventitive. Also I have to be on an anti-seizure med, or they get iffy about me driving, so the Topomax works on both the seizures and the migraines and it works for me. The main concern is the weight, even Seroquel which makes most people gain weight, makes me lose weight, hopefully the Lamictal which is supposed to be "weight neutral" won't do the same....I get tired of being griped at 'cuz I don't eat enough, but oh well...it's alwasy got to be something in this wonderful world we call BP right?
