View Full Version : ED with Type 2: Recovery Hope?

Hello. I have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes. It has probably been going on for several years. It was diagnosed as the result of a number of standard and obvious indicators. And yes I am guilty of all the things that get you that disease. Over unhealthy foods and eating too much food. Lack of exercise, not enough sleep, stress, depression.
So here I am and I want to recover and gain health again. As I write this I am 56, way overweight and you guessed it - dead in the sexual department. Not to be too graphic but I have a hard time getting an erection and when I am able to get one it is hard (no pun intended) to sustain it. The best now is usually a partial errection and and not a lot of physical pleasure when I finally you- know- what. The loss of sexual function, pleasure and desire is a major diminishment from what it was five years ago. I also have developed mild neuropathy and I am wondering if the 'pleasure nerves' are gone for good.
I am changing my ways. I am exercising regularly, eating right in terms of quality and quantity. I am on metaform and am also taking the supplements to try to control my blood sugar, restore some of the nerve damage and control neurapathy and get some sexual function back:
1. alpha lipoic acide
2. L-Carnitine
3. Chromium picolinate
4. CO Q10
5. Ginkgo Biloba
My question is whether its too late or not to get any real sexual function back. Is my sex life pretty much over except at a very diminished level? Or is there any real hope that there could be major improvements?
I would like to hear from folks who have had some experience they can share.
Thanks!

You should ask your Dr if something like Cialis would help. I don't know the interaction with diabetes, but a friend of mine who is in his 50s was having ED and he is now like a bunny wabbit. He tried both Viaga and Cialis and swears by Cialis. Your ED may have nothing to do with your diabetes. Ask your doc.

Yes diabetes has something to do with ED. How? when your diabetic whether type 1 or 2 your blood vessels are very constricted. Why? one of the functions of the insulin is to relax the arterial muscle wall which increases bloodflow. Since our penis is made up of blood vessels not muscle, there is a decrease blood flow gushing through our penis's.

OP- Its a good thing your doing your best to better your self. IMO i think you can still gain back your sexual function since you are starting to live a healthy lifestyle.
