I'm in pretty big trouble and I need some good advice. I injured my back a while back, and it's been keeping me from work. I'm self-employed and have no benefits. I've been getting treatment, but I need more and I'm going to run out of money soon. This may be close to impossible, but I need to try to find a plan that will cover a pre-existing injury, as well as one that will cover all the alternative forms of treatment that a back injury entails, such as chiropractic, accupuncture and physical therapy, and also is affordable. Pretty long shot I know, but if anyone knows of a really good plan please help!

Unfortunately you probably aren't likely to have your back problem covered as a pre-ex condition unless you joined a group plan through an employer, where they don't impose waiting periods on pre-ex conditions. For individual coverage, you are likely to receive an exclusion rider where they won't cover your back problem or any related treatment or medication. This is because the small amount of premium coming in from one person would likely not cover the expense of this kind of treatment, so they opt to offer coverage with that exclusion. It wouldn't hurt though to talk to a local independent insurance company and see if they have any other ideas. Good luck to you!
