I HATE antibiotics, I am a natural healer all the way, but my sinus infections got so bad I had to go to an ENT. At first he put me on a Z pack, but then made me stop 3 days into it and start on 300 mg of Cedfdinir twice a day. I'm on my 3rd day of that. The sinus infection is improving but not completely gone. I was thinking of taking the cefdinir for a couple more days and then stopping and going back to grapefruit seed extract, garlic, and high doses of vitamin c along with nasal cleansing. I am currently taking acidophilous 3 hours after I ingest the cefdinir, so I can replenish any good bacteria. I feel just plan WEIRD on the cefdinir no matter how much water I drink I feel dizzy, and week and shaky and nausuas, and as negative as i might sound, I just feel that I'll probably have some kind of bad reaction, like a previous poster, and break out into hives....which would be horrible especially since I am going to be attending a very high profile event soon in which my picture will be taken...sounds vain, but I just plain want to get off this drug and I know all doctors will tell me not to stop taking it until I finish the course. Any suggestions? Please help:(

I hate to say it but I think you should finish the course of antibiotics - it takes time for them to knock out the infection and there's a risk that it will come back if you stop too soon - it doesn't seem like it's worth the risk of stopping halfway through the course of antibiotics.

I agree. You need to keep taking the antibiotic. I was on omnicef for 38 days this winter. It did mess with my body but i feel so much better. I would have green mucous on the last day of antibiotics and i'd call and ask what do i do. I had to take diflucan every 4 days for the yeast (of course i ended up with a raging inf first), Ultra flora (probiotics), irrigation with a neti pot 4 times a day. My chiropractor and massage therapist (still receiving treatment from car accident) would reshape/help drain my sinuses. Are you taking any mucionex or entex? that has really helped me
Even my chiro (naturapath sp?) said some times your body just needs the antibiotic. I was suffering a lot more without the omnicef than on

You are not thinking about what is happening when you have a bacteria growing in your body. Bacteria in the sinuses can cause all kinds of related illnesses...
People used to die quite easily from colds and flu before penicillin was discovered. Sometimes you HAVE to have an antibiotic. and yes, i know that many germs are resistant now. But that is why if they say take it 3 weeks you have to. What used to take a week of antibiotics is now taking a month to kill resistant germs. What is the alternative? Do nothing?
If your bacterial infection is so bad that certain antibiotics are needed then what can you do? If you don't clear it up it will be back.
I am on my 3rd round and for 3 more weeks. And I am gladly taking it because otherwise life is not livable. My sinus infection has been around for at least 3 months and maybe longer.
We all feel as if we should be able to take vitamins and herbal supplements, do nasal washes, etc and everything will be ok. That works as a preventive in my opinion and we should do all those things.
But once the bacteria has you---you must take it and take ALL of it. If you stop the stronger germs just get stronger. Taking probiotics is good too.
