View Full Version : maybe someone can help me?

I am hoping someone can help me. For over a year now I have not felt well, not like myself. I have been to several doctors, had mri's x-rays, acupuncture and it has really not helped me. The reason I am posting in this message board, is because a lot of people have suggested to me what I am experiencing is anxiety. I have even been taking zoloft for 2 months now, (started with 25mg and am now up to 50mg). It is not helping me.

Here are a list of my symptoms:

I have an almost constant feeling of discombobulation. Actually, I run into walls and fall over stairs from time to time. I feel dizzy and have frequent headaches mostly in the temple area and neck and shoulders.

Loss of focus and sense of confusion in my thinking. Driving is difficult and long distance is basically impossible.

Carrying on conversations can be strenuous, which is bad because I own a retail store and talk to customers on a regular basis.

I also have noticed my left eye blinks considerably more than my right eye. I sometimes even shut my left eye and look through my right eye only, I think it helps with the dizziness.

I feel a shortness of breath and have a hard time taking deep breaths.

The severity of the condition varies. I am still not sure what is the trigger. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and experience the dizziness and have a hard time walking to the bathroom.

Also, my bilirubin count is high.

I am looking at all possible reasons as to why this is happening. Like I said before, people have said it is probably anxiety. But I have always been a very extroverted person and very independent. I used to very much enjoy having beer, being social and driving....not at the same time of course. Alcohol seems to adversely affect me and make me dizzier so I have given that up too. If anyone has any suggestions or theories, please share them with me.

I would really appreciate any input....Thanks!

HI,
I was reading your post and really feel for you. Some of it sounds like anxiety especially if you have had testing done and that is showing no other problems causing all your symptoms. I to suffer from anxiety . I am normally a pretty outgoing talkative person but when i am having bouts of anxiety and panic attacks that all changes. driving is difficult actually just about everything is to be honest. dizziness is one of my biggest symptoms and it is really scary. I am currently just starting paxil and it is working great for me along with xanax. i would suggest you go back to your dr and tell him the zoloft is not working. after 2 months you should be getting some relief and be sure to give him all your symptoms in case there are additional testing that needs done. there are many meds out there for anxiety which may lead to depression if left untreated. so dont get discouraged if the zoloft is not working there is more out there and this may not be the one for you. i know i went there several till i found what worked for me.
good luck,
tami

It could be anxiety, but have you had your inner ears checked for dizzyness? Simple ENT may not find it. You may have to go to specialist. Does the room every spin? Also have your had your BP checked laying, sitting and standing. Or had a tilt table test for BP variance?

It could be anxiety. I have different symptoms myself. I think my problem could be anxiety, but like you I never had anxiety issued, was always laid back and relaxed. But I am female and mine could be peri-meno, which for sure is not your problem.

Thank you for your advice. Actually, you are not the first person to suggest I see an ear specialist, so I will definately give it a shot.

My blood pressure has tested fine. My doctor has also scheduled an ultrasound for me to check out my liver and kidney function.

Thanks again for the reply,

David

Thank you for your reply. Do your anxiety ever give you headaches?

No, it does not generally. I have enought symptoms, and not sure what the cause of the anxiety is. My worse symptom besides being tired is internal shaking or tremor, not visible on outside.

i can definately relate. My anxiety gives me headaches. Sometimes they are constant for weeks and weeks. 10 weeks is my longest bowt. I'm hypersensertive to my body reactions and I "apparently" tense up within my shoulders that can pinch nerves and cause all sorts of wierd stuff. Seeing a osteopath helped a lot but meds has definately cut out a good percentage of it now. I'm on venlaflaxine but I'm in the UK so not sure if the meds are the same here. Keep pursuing it <BECAUSE> you might find some relieft somewhere
