I had severe abdominal pain start in the morning before I had even eaten. It spread throughout my belly, but I was more tender on the right side. I tolerated it all day, but late afternoon I became queasy, almost fainted, and did throw up. A trip to the emergency room revealed a normal appendix, ovaries, pancreas, and gall bladder via CT scan, but mild periportal inflammation below my liver. An ultrasound of my gallbladder was normal, no stones visible. My WBC count was normal, liver enzymes normal, but lipase and bilirubin were both mildly elevated. The abnormal labs were repeated the next day and were back down. I had belly pain and loss of appetite over the next few days, although symptoms were improving each day. The ER doc and my primary cannot explain what happened. I don't have normal gallbladder symptoms like pain after eating fatty foods. Could I have passed a stone? A spasm? Anybody else have this happen. I was so sick, I just don't want to go through that again. Thanks for your help.
