Ok, so I just spent the last 3 days in the hospital with my mother, who I believe had a seizure while she was sleeping. Here is what happened:
She was feeling sick to her stomach and went to bed a little early (she was fine all day, but suddenly felt ill) Within 20 min. I heard this loud noise, it sounded like blowing air through closed lips. I ran in her room and she was stiff, arched back - head dug in the pillows. She didn't respond to be and as I tried to move her to her side she started shaking a little, and a little foam (or what looked like it) was coming out of her mouth and her eyes were rolling into the back of her head. She also bit her tongue. She stopped and was still unresponsive. I called 911 and they thought she was on narcotics but she is not and was proved not to be at the hospital. She did not come to but whn the paramedics got there she started to fight them and became violent and started to scream. She later told me she thought they were trying to kill her. She tells me she thought there were no lights on, but every light was on in the house and in the ambulance. By the time she got to the hospital she was fine (about a 10 min. drive). Now...She is on Zoloft and Namenda(?) and she is a marijuana smoker - she has been for over 30 years (she is 58). She has never had something like this. She has autoimmune problems, but has been in good health. When she was at the hospital they found out she had the beginning stages of appendicitis and they removed it the next day. They are telling her the two have nothing in common - but just in case. Now as soon as her Neurologist found out she was a smoker (she didnt smoke that day) he told her that was why she had the seizure.!? I really have my doubts about that. She did have a MRI, EEG, CT, and lots of blood tests.
If anyone has had anything similar like this or had a marijuana induced seizure, please tell me about it.
I know thats a lot of info, but Im not sure what to do when the dr. refuses any other suggestions.
