I'm planning on going to the doctor here in the next few days, but I wanted to check here first to see if someone could help me.
About a month ago, I slept in my contacts (don't know if thats part of the cause or not) and when I woke up both of my eyes were incredibly dry, and I had to end up wearing my glasses for the rest of the day. The redness slowly decreased in my left eye, but my right just kept getting worse. At first i was afraid it was pink eye, but after several days I didn't have any yellow mucus, it didn't itch, and it wasn't spreading to my other eye, or my boyfriend. My eye was just really swore, and it was very hard to focus or even open my eye for any length of time. It took about a week, and then this cleared up all together, and everything was fine. A lady I work with, who use to work at an eye clinic, looked at my eye while it was still red, and she said that it appeared to have a small tear on it, and to just wear my glasses and let it be.
About 3 weeks later, out of nowhere, my eye starts getting really dry again, and becoming very red and painful like the last time. In the mornings I'm waking up to a film of white thin, I guess mucus across my eye. And strangely enough, this time, I can't see if I DON'T have my contacts in. Without my contacts in, that eye gets incredibly sensitive and I just end up blinking all the time, never really being able to focus on anything. My top eyelid is swollow, so its very visible if you look at me, and has been going on for a little over a week this time. Through the whole thing, my boyfriend has never had a problem, nor has it ever spread to the other eye. So I think its safe to say its not pink eye. I've been around family, co workers, and friends, and none of them have ever gotten it either.
Any advice you can give would be wonderful. Oh yeah, and I've also tried all kinds of eye drops, and while they take the red out for the most part, they don't help with the blurry vision or the pain.
I wanted to go into the doctor with possible ideas of what this might be, because I don't have insurance, and would like to spend as little time and money as possible. My eye is just becoming unbearable.
Thanks!
