View Full Version : Head and neck pain

Dear All. My father is in a world of pain and nobody knows what is causing it. He describes the pain as feeling like someone punches him in the back of the head/top of the neck and it is something that comes on suddenly. When the pain comes on, it is also accompanied by general dizziness, blurred vision and a slight loss of breath. He says the blurred vision is like watching a tv and the picture goes wavy and closes in from either side, as though peripheral vision is not there any more. The only common thing I've noticed is that it comes the day after he has been active (walking round the shops, etc).
He has been to hospital and had a neck scan, a brain scan, and the doctors have also scanned his eyes, but all tests have come back negative.
Yesterday was a really bad day, and today is also proving difficult. The bouts of pain are coming approximately once every 15 minutes.
I hope there is someone out there that has heard of these symptons before, because the silence from the doctors is deafening and it hurts to see him in this much pain.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Steve.

I am sorry your father is going through so much pain, I thought maybe he had a bulging disc in his neck, but the scan came back negative? Perhaps he should see a Pain Management Doctor? At least they could give him something for the pain. Hope he gets better....

Sunny
