My doctor prescribed Zoloft to treat my anxiety. I have been on 25 mg for about a week now. I am also 4 months pregnant. I've been taking it at night before I got to bed. The first time I took it, I felt terrible all night with flu like symptoms, and was very nauseous. The feeling continued into the rest of the following day. The doses I have taken after that have not made me feel as bad, but I am waking up every morning still feeling very nauseous and having diarrhea (and no, the nausea is not from morning sickness, I was quite over my morning sickness, and didn't start feeling nauseous again until I started the Zoloft). I want to move up to the 50 mg dose, but am afraid of how it will make me feel! My question is, do these side effects ever go away?? How long until they do? I haven't noticed any improvement since the second dose I took. I don't see my doctor until next week.
The benefits of meds haven't kicked in yet, either, so this is all rather frustrating :(.

I have been taking Zoloft for about 6 months now. I presently take 150mg per day. The few side effects that I was experiencing have all pretty much gone away. I still feel a little drowsy after taking the meds at times. I take them before bed now, so this is no longer any bother. I experienced dry mouth, drowsiness, mild nausea, and diarrhea when I first started taking the Zoloft. All of these went away within a few weeks of first starting the meds. Like others, I too started at 25mg. My dosage was increased over time as prescribed by my doc. Zoloft has really helped with my issues. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I'm really, really hoping that this stuff works! I have another question, actually...although maybe I should just post a new thread...but I am wondering, when it did start working, was it a gradual thing, or did you just wake up one day and Bam! you felt great?

Maybe check with your doctor. I was prescribed the 25 mg Zoloft a year ago and it made me have horrible headaches, diarrhea, and made my anxiety 100 times worse, I stuck with it for 9 days thinking it would get better but everyday was worse, I finally quit it cold turkey after 9 days and within 24 hours felt so much better...I shortly after started Lexapro and it works so much better. SOmetimes you have to try some different ones to get the right one, its sort of like trial and error

Hi,
I have been on zoloft/setraline since Oct., 2007. I went through 'all" the side effects it seems like at the beginning. Nervousness, jitteriness, dry mouth, weight loss due to no appetite and insomnia. All have resolved themselves except for insomnia. It's a bear. I now take gabapentin before bedtime to help go to sleep. If not....I'm awake all night. It's been worth it though. I now have no panic attacks and periods of worrying about everything. It's helped me get my life back like I want it. One other thing is, I don't cry like I used too. Not that I cried a lot but, the tears don't come in situations now that they may have before.
Good luck. Hang in there.
