View Full Version : Not sure if this is serious of what.

I think I have something going on with my feet, but am not really sure.

It all started a couple months ago when I started developing abcesses on my toes - the pads. They hurt to walk on and eventually healed up and went away. They looked like bruises after awhile before they healed up. To the touch they were hard and I could feel the abcess underneath the skin.

Now, my big toes are involved; the toenails were sore to touch. The other day I noticed that they are bruised. Not dark bruises, just dark enough that I noticed it when I took my socks off the other night. They don't hurt now, but are bruised.

I haven't had any abcesses in my toes recently either.

Am wondering if this is a problem others have had and what the cause of it was. I don't wear tight shoes. In fact, most of the time I am home and wear socks in the house. I have severe digenerative arthritis in my neck, which leaves me unable to work. Just to give you a little background on me. Wondering if maybe nerve damage in my neck, etc.. or something is causing the problems with my feet.

Maybe there is a deeper injury to the foot?? Something you can't readily see?? I would go to a podiatrist and get them to look at it and maybe take an xray. Any kind of bruising and/or abcess would say to me that there was something wrong inside the foot. Have you been checked for diabetes?? If you can't feel pain in your feet (from the bruising) then diabetes might be the issue....best bet is to go to a doctor and get it checked.

I had a similiar situation happen to myself about a year and a half ago. I woke up one morning unable to walk on my toe(right leg only) I thought that maybe I had a blister but couldn't see anything. It hurt for a couple of days and then went away. A few days after that it turned purple and the pain returned. This went on for a couple of months before I made an appointment with my doctor. He ended up sending me to a specialist and I was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder and currently have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life. I'd have it check out if I were you.
