I'm trying to start eating healthier. I've cut back drastically on sugars and simple carbohydrates, have begun eating more whole grains and protein. Thanks to this, an increase in exercise and taking natural medicines found to combat the problem, My OCD symptoms have been reduced considerably, but I still feel like they could decrease further (though I realise they will likely never completely go away) As I said, I've been eating more protein, but only from fish and non meat sources. I'm wondering if I should begin including beef, chicken and turkey in my diet. I will only eat them if they're kosher, but that's not a problem as there are plenty of places to buy kosher food where I live. Should I consider adding these foods to my eating regimen, or should I simply get more of the foods I already consume?

Hi,

Try asking your body what it needs. One of my friends wants to be a vegan, but finds that without red meat a few times a week, she feels terrible. Some of us need the chicken and meat.

You could try eating the meats and seeing if it made a difference in how you feel, and take it from there. It's great that you're cleaning up your diet!

Thank you very much for your speedy inquiry! I haven't eaten meat overall in a while, and have only fairly recently begun eating fish again, but it does feel like that's something I could need in my diet. I'd rather not eat beef, chicken or turkey if I can help it, even when it's kosher, so I'll increase my fish intake and see what happens there, and if that turns out not to be enough, I'll see if including different sources of meat protein will improve things.
