So in two days I finally get to see the Psych! To get a prescription for meds. Alot of strings had to be pulled to get me to the top of the list. i am thankful.
Anyways, I have to talk to the Psychiatrist about medications. If anyone has any words on their drug of choice (LOL) I would appreciate it. I really would like to try for a mood stabilizer and stay away from the anti-psychotics this time around. Is lithium still in use much? Does it turn you into a zombie? I know its different for different people but i would like to hear your experiences. I really don't want to go through a long drawn out med adjustment. That makes me nervous.

Hey markfish,

Good for you that you made it this far. I used Lithium a long time ago and yes I was a total zombie, no feelings about anything one way or the other. I use the Seroquel/Lamictal cocktail and I gotta say it's working pretty good for me...not every day is perfect but the good are starting to outnumber the bad. Good luck with the doc.

I have been diagnosed with BP about 3 years ago and I started on risperdal to stabilize my mood, once off that, my regular medication is Epilim.Luckily I have a great doctor and he put me on this and it worked immediately. I have been stable and my BP is in remission since then and I can lead a normal life.

All the best

Lamictal has been a wonderful drug for me, with Ativan to help offset the anxiety caused by the Lamictal. Also on Abilify to help with the days when I go up the rollercoaster. Hope whatever cocktail they put together for you works! Glad to hear you are still hanging in there and will be getting in to the office soon!:)
