I officially got the boot off today and now I'm using an air walker. I notice that after 6 weeks I can put weight on my foot/ankle that was fractured. But my foot is so weak that I can't lift up on the ball of my foot or on my toes. Does this sound normal that my foot muscles would be so weak after only 6 weeks in the boot?

That is very normal. It took me months before I could get back up onto the balls of my feet after my surgeries. It seems like such a simple thing, but it is really difficult. It really doesnt take long for the muscles to loose their tone. Don't worry it just takes time and work. You can do it.

Thanks Andrea for writing back. I'll just keep working on it.

I still have muscle tone issues in my foot after 3 months. It has taken a long time to be able to feel that muscle push and pull in the other four toes and in the big toe as well. I know that after my car accident it was only about 6 weeks and I realized how much muscle tone I had lost from not being able to exercise. I have only in the last couple of weeks been ablt to stand tippy toe (as if in reaching for something on a top shelf to get it down) without having weakness shakes in my foot.

It looks like I have a ways to go then but at least I'm more mobile and not carrying around my extra leg=the boot.
