See..the thing that is really starting to irritate me is that these people on here are repeating exactly what the media says. There was something about homeopathy on here..and all of a sudden everyone dashes hopes! Instead of everyone playing Mr. Know It All, and "Lets repeat what the media says" why don't we all try it? Just because everyone says BS about viral shedding, and that this homeopathy doesn't work, I'm going to try it and believe so much that it will work..that it will. Sorry..I'm not just going to sit back and say "Oh well..I have herpes..just except it" I've had it for two years..and I'm done feeling sorry for myself. I used to think "I will never ever ever get an STD" We all thought that and we believed it. Well why can't everyone BELIEVE that they can get rid of it..why you ask? Because THEY tell us we can't. MIND OVER MATTER! I guarantee someone will respond to this blabbing about this and that..well don't bother. Only respond if you have something POSITIVE to say. Thank you

Sorry, didn't mean to make you feel discouraged. I wasn't trying to dash anyone's hopes, only to suggest that we still need to keep one foot in a realistic perspective.

Mind over matter sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes it takes time to get past the blocks and obstacles and unlearn old expectations before it finally works.

I just wouldn't want to be someone who found out the hard way that you hadn't found a way to make it work yet. I'm not saying don't hope or try new things. I'm only saying don't forget that you're still responsible if someone gets herpes if you chose to disregard the risk, so it's best to still take the usual precautions.

I am HIV-negative, but I would not want to risk having unprotected sex with someone who has been tested as HIV-positive but insists that his mind-over-matter will protect me better than a condom. And I would not want him to tell me he is HIV-negative because he is trying a mind-over-matter strategy (no matter how much he believes it). I might applaud and encourage him in his quest, but I'll still take the condom.

Winger20, you have hit the nail on the head. I will try anything, and I am - and I really believe in my heart that I won't have herpes forever. There are amazing things that we humans can do, like we've all heard of the people who lift vehicles off loved ones. The difference is that in their mind at the time, failure was not an option. They had no time for it to sink in that "oh yeah, I can't lift 3 tonnes". People can slow their heart rates, consciously change the temperature of one hand while the other remains the same....all by the will of their minds. Anything you hear in the media has some political slant to it, and in the case of herpes - there is a lot of misinformation. So I trust no one and if I see some cheap website about a guy who says "yeah, I had herpes but I cured it by snorting whole wheat flour while standing on one foot and counting backwards from 10." Well, how do I KNOW unless I try? And try I would!!

To all the unbelievers I say "Have fun living with herpes forever."
