Hi all,
Just wanted to let you all know that my DH is home and we're in our second day. We're settling into a routine but he's basically chair bound or bed bound. He's not the same man that I had before he went to the hospital and I'm afraid I've lost him forever. He's pretty zoned out most of the time but every now and then he shines through with something funny to say and we all laugh. Hospice has been WONDERFUL and have supplied me with nurses around the clock so far so I can get some sleep and have scheduled an aide to come 7 days a week for about an hour and a half so we can clean him up and to just check in on us. One of my regular caregivers is coming tomorrow to spend time with myself and the nurse so she can get acclamated to the routine so I can inventually get back to work. I wonder how long this will all go on and I'm pretty pooped right now. Hope you all are coping and having a good day.
Love Janie

I'm glad he's back Janie. Hospice is wonderful. My Mom had hospice care at the NH for the final few months They were with her around the clock, never rushed or hectic, always smooth and calm and pleasant. Their job is to make the patient more comfortable, no drastic measures, no attempted cures. Mom slipped away very peacefully. I hope you can make the best possible time out of your final months together.

love,

Martha

I am also glad your DH is home and you have found help and a routine. It last until it is over and somehow we all cope with what is thrown our way until we have something different.

love, deb
